John Arrington

John Arrington is an 18-year-old senior at Thornton Township High School . Poetry plays a very big role in life: He does spoken word and he writes about life, personal experiences and God . He does spoken word at his church as well as others, youth centers and at school assemblies.

The teen said he would like to pursue his poetry passion.

“I’m not sure what I want to do with my future but I’d like to get more in touch with my spoken word,” he said. Arrington is captain of his school’s speech and spoken clubs.

In a recent interview with him it was apparent that he’s very intelligent. He shared that he likes school because he’s enhancing his knowledge and his mind. He has a lot of insight on the world and what goes on in the world around him.

Arrington is very active in sports such as football, basketball and boxing. He’s not on a team for any of the sports, he just enjoys playing them leisurely with his friend.
As for boxing, he says, “I’ve never been knocked out nor have I knocked anyone out it’s simply to strengthen my body and a form of exercise.”

John is anything but shy or quiet, he has a very open personality and is outspoken. He says exactly what is on his mind at the given time.
