My summer at Columbia was exciting and very beneficial. i learned how to be an even better journalist, and better communication skills. everyday we did a morning assignment so that helped me get use to reading newspapers and after i read it, i was more opinionated about it before i came to columbia i never really cared about what was going on in the world. i didn't know how much i was being effected, by the things going on out there in the society. my main focus has always been the party friday night or who's going to the mall tommorow, not so much Obama and the debt sealing crisis.
now that i know these things are happening i can use my writing skills to express how feel about them. sometimes i even share my thoughts with my friends , and they are amazed. at columbia they taught me that i have a voice and the future is in my hands, so i might as well get the tools i need to get started in life. i really enjoyed he program i think my summer would have very unproductive if i wasn't here.
i hope that Columbia continues to mentor and teach us in the future, because there are more kids that wish they could talk about more important things like we do here, but no one ever listens. the youth has a voice that needs to be heard.
