My experiences in the Journalism Program, Columbia Links, meant a lot to me. I got the chance to work with and be taught by professionals such as, Brenda Butler and Kevin Obomanu. Each week we had survivors, celebrities, and outstanding professors and journalists come work with us. I received a sense of how a newscast went by anchoring in a Columbia Links newscast. This meant a lot to me because I have grown so much throughout the summer. I have improved my professional skills, journalism critique, and investigation skills. I met teens from all over chicago and I related and learned so much from them. Our guest speakers and my co-workers were completely open, which allowed me to be myself. People saw potential in me that I didn't even see in myself. Journalism and Broadcasting was a rude awakening for me because it goes so much deeper than what it is. One story had several significant components and when different personalities are working together it makes it even more complex. I would like to do this program again especially because of the significant amount of knowledge I gained.
